FOR 1994

Lieutenant Colonel THEODORE A. ADAMS

U.S. Army, Retired

 

Lieutenant Colonel Theodore A. Adams was born on September 19, 1929 in Newark, New Jersey.  He entered the U.S. Army at age 17, and attained the senior enlisted rank of Master Sergeant at age 20.  He was the first black honor graduate of the Engineer Officer Candidate School.  Colonel Adams is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College.  He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Smaller Company Management Program.

 

For 23 years he served the Army with great dedication in a variety of responsible positions in the U.S. and overseas.  His military awards include the Legion of Merit with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Vietnamese Medal of Honor.  Colonel Adams retired in 1969.

 

Colonel Adams is currently Chairman of the Board and President, Unified Industries Incorporated UII).  He is a distinguished member of the National Republican Committee’s Senatorial Trust, the Republican Congressional Leadership Council, the Council of 100 Black Men, the Republican National Committee’s Advisory Council on Economic Affairs and presently is a member of the National Black Leadership Roundtable.

A past Executive Director of National Association of Black Manufacturers (NABM), Colonel Adams was recognized in the 1977-78 edition of Who’s Who Among Black Americans, and he was a recipient of the National Business League’s Frederick Douglas Patterson Award.  He was also a recipient of the “Minority Businessperson of the Year” award.  Colonel Adams received an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree from Bowie State University, and was inducted into the Engineer Officer Candidate School’s Hall of Fame.

 

He and his wife Jeanie currently reside in Fairfax Station Virginia.  He has four children and eight grandchildren.

FOR 1994

Colonel ROBERT J. WARREN

U.S. Army, Retired

 

Colonel Robert J. Warren was born on May 21, 1940 in Tampa, FL.  He graduated from Florida A&M University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and was commissioned as a Armor Second Lieutenant from the University’s ROTC Program.  In 1974, he received a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from Florida State University.  Colonel Warren also is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the National War College.

 

During his distinguished military career, Colonel Warren held many demanding command and staff assignments.  He served as a Battalion Commander at Fort Knox, KY, and he served in military operations staff positions with troops, on the Department of the Army Staff and in the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  He also helped mold leaders of the future during his 3-year assignment as Associate Professor of Military Science at Loyola University in New Orleans, LA.  His overseas assignments included duty in Korea, Vietnam, and Europe.  Colonel Warren’s final active duty assignment was as Post Commander, Cameron Station, Alexandria, VA.  He retired in June, 1991 with 29 years of service.

 

Colonel Warren’s military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star (with “V” device), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.

Since his military retirement, Colonel Warren has served as the Business Manager for the Northern Virginia Community College, Woodbridge Campus.  He is President of Warren Enterprises, Inc., and he is the Executive Assistant to the Director, Office of the Economic Adjustment in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

 

Colonel Warren is married to the former Iris Smith. They have a son and two daughters: Gerald Robert, Iris Theresa, and Eileen Joyce.
