General ROSCOE ROBINSON, JR.
U.S. Army, Retired
General Roscoe Robinson, Jr. was born on October 11, 1928 in St. Louis, MO. Graduating from the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Military Engineering in June 1951, he was commissioned an Infantry Second Lieutenant. He earned a Master’s Degree in International Affairs from the University of Pittsburgh. General Robinson’s military education included Army Command and General Staff College and the National War College.
General Robinson’s assignments included Platoon Leader and Communications Officer in the 188th Airborne Infantry Regiment, Fort Campbell Kentucky; Company Commander in Korea and Fort Bragg; Instructor in the Airborne Department, Infantry School and the Command and General Staff College; Personnel Management Officer, Infantry Branch, Department of the Army; Division G-4, 1st Cavalry and Battalion Commander, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry, Vietnam. He also served on the U.S. Military Mission, Republic of Liberia.
Other assignments included Plans Officer, J-5, United States Pacific Command, Hawaii; Commander, 2n Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division; Deputy Chief of Staff and Commanding General, United States Army Garrison, Okinawa; Commanding General, 82nd Airborne Division; Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army; and Commanding General, United States Army Japan and IX Corps. In 1982, General Robinson was assigned as the United States Representative to the Military Committee, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Brussels, Belgium.
His awards included the Distinguished Service Medal; Silver Star; Legion of Merit; Distinguished Flying Cross; Bronze Star Medal; Air Medals; Army Commendation Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge and Master Parachutist Badge.
General Robinson’s death ended a life dedicated to excellence. He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred E. Sims of Falls Church, VA, and their two grown children, Carol and Bruce.

Lieutenant Colonel ALBERT WASHINGTON
U.S. Army, Retired
Colonel Albert “Foots” Washington was born on August 1, 1917, in Philadelphia, PA. Colonel Washington attended school in Sumter, SC and graduated from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School in Baltimore, MD.
Enlisting in the Army in 1941, Washington served abroad in Japan and Germany, and numerous installations in the United States. Colonel Washington’s last assignment was as Assistant Provost Marshal, Fort Dix, NJ. In 1961, after twenty years of service, he retired from active duty.
His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
Fulfilling a lifetime ambition, he earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Virginia State College at the age of 55. In 1980, after embarking on a second career, he retired from an administrative position with the Pemberton Township School System. Restless with the “retired state,” Colonel Washington continued work as a substitute teacher for the Burlington and Willingboro Township School Systems.
He and his wife, the former Mattie Jeffries were dedicated Willingboro, NJ residents. During his lifetime, “Foots” Washington was active in both civilian and retired military organizations.
