The VP, Finance, provides leadership, guidance, and oversight of the ROCKS’ fiscal planning, resource management and acquisition functions to ensure financial transactions and reporting activities convey full transparency and conform to generally accepted accounting principles. Leads the organization’s efforts to identify and pursue common sense, objective-based expenditures that can produce measurable and relevant returns on investment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

● Ensure the organization complies with all governmental fiscal reporting requirements.

● Develop and enforce fiscal policies that protect the organization's tax-exempt status.

● Provide training, consultation, coaching, to chapters and interest groups related to the establishment of sound fiscal tactics, techniques, and procedures

● Review Chapters' annual budget submissions and provide pertinent feedback and guidance based on the submission’s content

● Conduct semi-annual reviews of each chapter’s/interest group’s financial status and provide feedback and guidance to the Chapter based on information gleaned from the review.

     




The ROCKS, Inc. is a tax-exempt non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) comprised of ROTC and Military Academy Cadets, active duty, reserve component, commissioned officers and active duty or reserve component warrant officers and Department of Defense GS12 and above civilians. The organization was formed to provide mentorship, professional development and social interaction to strengthen the officer corps. In addition to the R.C. Cartwright Scholarship Fund, the "Leadership Outreach" program provides the opportunity for teams consisting of ROCK members to visit Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to provide professional career development guidance to ROTC students.
