LTG(R) Donna Martin is a native of Yorktown, Virginia, and a graduate of Old Dominion University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice, and she was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Military Police Corps in 1988. LTG Martin also earned a master’s degree in strategic studies from the United States Army War College in Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania.

 

Prior to her retirement, LTG Martin served as the 67th Inspector General of the US Army.  LTG Martin’s general officer assignment include:  From March 2015 until June 2017, LTG Martin served as the Deputy Commanding General, United States Army Recruiting Command at Fort Knox, Kentucky. From June 2017 to August 2018, she served as the Chief of the Military Police Corps Regiment and Commandant of the Military Police School. From August 2018 to July 2020, she was promoted to Major General and commanded the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence and Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After command in July 2020, LTG Martin became the eighteenth Provost Marshal General, serving as the principal military advisor to the Secretary of the Army and the Chief of Staff of the Army on policing matters and the fifteenth Commanding General of U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, serving as the Department of the Army’s independent criminal investigative authority.  On2 September 2021, LTG Martin was sworn in as the 67th Inspector General of the United States Army until her retirement in May 2025.

 

Since retiring in May 2025, LTG Martin lives in Williamsburg, Virginia with her husband, Chris.   She is very active in her community.  Consecutively, while serving as the Chairperson of the ROCKS, Inc, Martin serves on the wear blue: run to remember board of advisors.  LTG and Mr. Martin have two adorable year old yorkies: Frankie and Gracie who make every day exciting!



The ROCKS, Inc. is a tax-exempt non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) comprised of ROTC and Military Academy Cadets, active duty, reserve component, commissioned officers and active duty or reserve component warrant officers and Department of Defense GS12 and above civilians. The organization was formed to provide mentorship, professional development and social interaction to strengthen the officer corps. In addition to the R.C. Cartwright Scholarship Fund, the "Leadership Outreach" program provides the opportunity for teams consisting of ROCK members to visit Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to provide professional career development guidance to ROTC students.
